Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager (Sr. TPM) to lead complex, multi-stream technology programs for our international clients. The Sr. TPM will own delivery across diverse domains - Cloud, DevOps, SRE, Networking, Security & Cybersecurity, Data Engineering, and AI/ML- and act as the senior bridge between client executives, cross-functional engineering teams, and our internal leadership.
This role demands sharp project management discipline, broad technical fluency, executive-level communication, and the ability to stay on top of every moving part across geographies and time zones. You will not only deliver projects; you will set the standard for how delivery is run at TekBay.
As a Senior TPM, your responsibilities would be:
- End-to-End Program Ownership: Drive the full lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, delivery, closure) of multiple concurrent technology projects, ensuring strict adherence to scope, quality, timelines, and budget.
- International Client Management: Serve as the primary delivery contact for clients across North America, EMEA, and APAC. Run governance cadences across time zones, manage expectations with executives and product owners, and represent TekBay with professionalism and clarity.
- Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate engineering teams across multiple disciplines – DevOps, SRE, Cloud, Networking, Security, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data, and AI/ML – ensuring tight alignment between technical execution and business outcomes.
- Multi-Domain Delivery: Confidently manage initiatives spanning a wide technology footprint, including but not limited to:
- Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- SRE & Reliability: SLAs/SLOs/SLIs, observability, incident management, on-call processes, performance engineering.
- Networking: Hybrid cloud networking, SD-WAN, VPN, firewalls, load balancing, DNS, and zero-trust architectures.
- Security & Cybersecurity: IAM, vulnerability management, SIEM/SOC operations, penetration testing engagements, DevSecOps practices.
- Data & Analytics: Data platforms, ETL/ELT, lakehouse architectures, BI, and data governance.
- AI/ML: MLOps, model lifecycle management, GenAI/LLM integrations, and AI platform rollouts.
- Executive Stakeholder Management: Translate business needs into actionable technical roadmaps and convert technical risk into business impact for C-level and VP-level audiences.
- Agile & Hybrid Delivery: Define sprint plans, run stand-ups, refinements, retrospectives, and demos. Maintain rigorous tracking in Jira, Confluence, Asana, MS Project, or equivalent. Adapt between Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, Waterfall, and hybrid models based on engagement needs.
- Risk, Issue & Dependency Management: Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and blockers; drive structured mitigation plans; and escalate with clarity and recommended actions – never just problems.
- Governance, Compliance & Security: Ensure all programs align with relevant frameworks: SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, NIST. Partner with security teams to embed compliance into delivery from day one.
- Financial Ownership: Manage project P&L: track effort, burn, margin, and resource utilization. Forecast accurately and flag commercial risks early.
- Vendor & Partner Coordination: Manage third-party vendors, cloud partners, and contractors as part of the extended delivery team.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain crisp documentation – project charters, plans, RAID logs, change requests, status reports, and design docs – and provide clear weekly and monthly updates to stakeholders.
- Operational Discipline: Run a tight operating rhythm. Know the status of every workstream, every commitment, and every dependency – at all times. No surprises for clients, no surprises for leadership.
- Mentorship & Continuous Improvement: Mentor junior project managers and engineering leads. Drive playbooks, reusable templates, and process optimizations that improve delivery quality across the firm.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: 8+ years in technical project and program management, with demonstrable delivery across multiple IT domains (Cloud, DevOps, SRE, Networking, Security, Cybersecurity, Data, AI/ML, SaaS).
- International Exposure: Proven track record managing international clients and globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Technical Acumen: Strong working knowledge of:
- Software delivery lifecycles – Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, SAFe.
- Cloud platforms – AWS, Azure, GCP – and modern cloud-native architectures.
- CI/CD, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- SRE principles, observability stacks (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk), and incident management.
- Enterprise networking and security fundamentals – IAM, encryption, firewalls, zero trust, audits.
- Data & analytics ecosystems – ETL/ELT, data lakes/lakehouses, Snowflake, Databricks, BI tools.
- AI/ML delivery – MLOps, model deployment, GenAI/LLM-based product rollouts.
- Tools: Expert-level proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Asana, MS Project, Smartsheet or equivalent. Comfortable with reporting and dashboarding tools.
- Certifications (Preferred): PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, CSM/CSPO, SAFe Agilist, ITIL, AWS/Azure/GCP cloud certifications, or equivalent.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication. Strong stakeholder alignment, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities. Able to translate deeply technical concepts for business leaders, and business priorities for engineers. Calm under pressure and biased toward action.
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
