Job Responsibilities

The Junior System Engineer is responsible for supporting the reliability, availability, performance, and security of systems and infrastructure. This role involves monitoring production environments, troubleshooting technical issues, assisting with automation initiatives, and collaborating with senior engineers to maintain stable and efficient services.

As a Junior System Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Monitor production systems and respond to alerts and operational issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Linux system, application, and infrastructure issues with guidance from senior engineers.
• Assist in maintaining Kubernetes, cloud, virtualization, and networking environments.
• Support incident response activities and participate in post-incident reviews.
• Help implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
• Write and maintain basic automation scripts using Bash, Python, or similar tools.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Document operational procedures, troubleshooting steps, and technical configurations.
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to improve system reliability and performance.
• Follow infrastructure, security, and operational best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 1+ year of experience working with Linux systems in a professional or production environment.
• Basic understanding of web applications, SaaS platforms, or IT infrastructure.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Bash, Go, Java, C/C++, or Ruby.
• Basic understanding of Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, and SSL/TLS.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Exposure to virtualization technologies such as KVM, VMware, or VirtualBox.
• Understanding of version control systems such as Git.
• Eagerness to learn automation, cloud infrastructure, and modern DevOps practices.

Monitoring, Automation & Tooling:

Experience or familiarity with:

• Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Datadog, or similar monitoring tools.
• CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.
• Automation and scripting using Bash or Python.
• Git and collaborative development workflows.

Networking, Virtualization & Cloud:

• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, and networking concepts.
• Familiarity with load balancers, proxies, and cloud networking concepts.
• Exposure to virtualization platforms and virtual machines.
• Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure and services.

Soft Skills & Mindset:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks.
• Curiosity about infrastructure, automation, cloud computing, and system reliability.
• Comfortable working with distributed and cross-functional teams.

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
